Frans Wesselman is a printmaker, stained glass artist and painter whose work is rooted in storytelling and close observation of people and the natural world. Born and trained in the Netherlands, his early interest in art was sparked by the etchings of Rembrandt and the painters of The Hague School—an influence still evident in his sensitive use of line and atmosphere. Now based in the UK, Wesselman has exhibited widely and is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. He works across etching, woodcut and stained glass, using each medium for its distinct qualities: finely worked lines and textures in his etchings, and bold, graphic forms in his woodcuts. Drawing inspiration from literature, travel and everyday encounters, his work often suggests quiet, narrative moments, capturing the warmth and character of human relationships. Printmaking remains central to his practice, allowing him to share these thoughtful, story-led images with a wider audience through the making of multiples.
