This exhibition was planned pre-covid-19, to run 10th July to 31st August, and will now be held online. You can browse and read a little about each piece and artist and also buy online too. Our featured artists are Frans Wesselman, Ian Scott Massie, Victoria Keeble, Rebecca Denton and Teresa Winchester.
All our exhibitions, in 2020, have an underlying theme of finding happiness...we hope you find joy and happiness in these pages and perhaps have your own story to share with us.
Frans Wesselman was born in Holland where he trained to be an art teacher before his conscription into the Dutch army. After two years in the army he gained a diploma in printmaking and photography at Groningen College of Art. Frans moved to England in 1979 where he has worked and exhibited widely in both one-man shows and group exhibitions. His paintings and etchings are in private collections as well as in the Ashmolean and Fitzwilliam museums. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Printmakers.
In 2000 Frans produced his first work in stained glass. The richness of colour, fine detail and strong graphic style are typical of his work. The subject matter continues his interest in the human form and human relationships. Some pieces are based on poems and tales; some are directly from his observations and imagination.
Frans lives and works from his studio in Church Stretton, Shropshire.

Victoria has drawn since she was a small child, always fascinated by the shapes and patterns of animals and birds and putting the unusual together creating quirky associations. Originally trained as a textile designer at Falmouth School of Art she went on to work in the textile industry. In the 1980s she studied printmaking at Hereford College of Art and more recently at West Dean College and the Sidney Nolan Trust.
Since becoming a printmaker her work has become more illustrative, incorporating her love of pattern and texture, stylisation and fluidity of line, which have always been important elements in her designs. Her subject matter is often influenced by classic legends, sometimes sparked by a poem or fairy tale, a chance remark or just ‘out of the blue’; and still typically featuring natural forms including animals, birds and mythical beasts.
Victoria uses several printmaking techniques including: etching, screen printing, wood engraving, linocut and collagraph, her preferred medium, to create her exquisite limited edition work.
She has been a member of the Hay Makers a cooperative of local designer makers, based in Hay-on-Wye, since its inception in 1987. She has exhibited widely in Great Britain and her work is in private collections throughout Europe and also in Australia, Canada and the U.S.A.

With over two decades of creating, Rebecca Denton works from her sketches and imagination to create original prints in her studio in North London. Her aquatints are often whimsical, featuring imagined characters in imaginary landscapes and her narrative etchings are playful, sometimes with a serious context but always hopeful and life-affirming.
“I’ve always been a day dreamer and am influenced by the picture books of my childhood.”
“I love it when people connect with the work; perhaps it triggers a childhood memory or allows them to dream of a better world or just dream...”
Rebecca is a member of the Southbank Printmakers Gallery and exhibits regularly In the UK and has collectors all over the world.
As a child I loved to curl up in a chair with a book and read of magical worlds, brave deeds and princesses. The only pastime I enjoyed more was to draw the pictures these stories suggested. And I still love doing this.
Nowadays I'm a storyteller, and stories continue to inspire my work. Some of the images emerge from the well known tales such as the Red Shoes, but others drift into my mind quite unexpectedly, often just when I'm falling asleep! Some images, such as the Zebra Race, are not about a traditional wonder tale, and I like to think that the viewer will seek their their own story asking themselves what it's all about!
I am a printmaker and a painter living and working in Brighton where I open my house every May during the Brighton Festival as part of the Fiveways group. My relief prints are produced on a wonderful old Columbian press in the BIP studio. Apart from my printmaking I also paint in oils and acrylics.
