One of my favourite subjects is the city of the “dreaming spires”. I’ve known Oxford most of my life. We would sometimes take the train on a Sunday and my Dad would talk us through the streets - the Martyr’s Memorial, the Radcliffe Camera, the Botanical Gardens. It’s an extraordinary place where you can drink where Tolkien and C. S. Lewis drank and find the settings of the Inspector Morse mysteries.
