Migration of the Barnacle Goose – Large Wall Shrine

For centuries, the mysterious disappearance of barnacle geese each summer led to some extraordinary beliefs. They were said to hatch from barnacles, grow on driftwood or even hang from trees over the sea. Because they were thought to come from the water rather than from eggs, they were sometimes classed as fish and eaten during Lent.
