| These beautiful pure silver leaves and seedpods had as their origin actual natural leaves and seedpods. Each one is therefore different, with some having small natural idiosyncrasies. Layers of pure silver are applied using Precious Metal Clay. Precious Metal Clay is recycled silver that has been purified then infused into an organic binder. The technique was invented in Japan approximately 20 years ago. Eventually after many coats and the addition of a bail, and perhaps a lab grown gem, the leaf is kiln fired, then polished and burnished to a lustrous silver shine. Mary Cormican, the founder member of Somata says that when walking she is constantly inspecting gardens and hedgerows for suitable leaves. Each of these organic pieces has been made from carefully selected Yorkshire grown leaves.
You can wear one with pride, knowing that the silver itself is recycled, and the design is largely one of Nature’s own.
