A really exciting exhibition the first major one for Ian Scott Massie for nearly 10 years. He is inspired almost to the point of obsession by his home town Masham! He has been working towards this show for 18 months and The Gallery is just not big enough to contain it. the show will also be populated with quirky ceramic figures by Howard Charles.

Masham Market Place is unique: a square of massive proportions, beautiful buildings between two hundred and one thousand years old, the meeting point of Roman roads, mediaeval trackways and monastic drove roads. The site of great sheep sales by local abbeys, of early Christian burials and known to millions as the backdrop for episodes of All Creatures Great and Small, Heartbeat and numerous films.

Through the paintings of Ian Scott Massie, and Masham ceramicist Howard Charles, this exhibition takes a long look at the buildings and the life of the square through the seasons, from up-close to distant views, from intimate studies to the bigger picture.
